Speaker:  Scott Schaeffer-Duffy

Date: Friday, May 5, 2017 @ 7:30 p.m.

Place: Dorothy Day Catholic Worker: 503 Rock Creek Church Rd. NW, Washington, DC, 20010

Scott Schaeffer-Duffy, a member of the Saints Francis & Thérèse Catholic Worker house in Worcester, Massachusetts since it was founded in 1986, was first a member of the Saint Benedict Catholic Worker on 4th St. NW in Washington, DC. His presentations are filled with inspiring and humorous stories about welcoming strangers, going to jail and war zones for peace, raising four children in voluntary poverty, organizing a mountain climbing club and junior detective agency, and running the Boston Marathon four times, including the year of the bombing. He will bring copies of his new book, Nothing Is Impossible: Stories From the Life of a Catholic Worker. The founder of the nonprofit Fight for the Future and the leading defender of net-neutrality and online free speech, Holmes Wilson, says, “I heard  Scott Schaeffer-Duffy speak, when I was an undergrad. His talk changed my life.”
